Multipoint Lock Repair, Adjustment and Replacement

Multipoint locks secure a door at several places along the frame. When one component wears, the entire door can become difficult to lock. We diagnose the complete system—including the door alignment, hinges, handle, cylinder, gearbox, locking strip, hooks and keeps—so the repair addresses the cause instead of only the symptom.

  • The handle is difficult to lift or has started drooping
  • The key sticks, turns only partway or will not turn
  • You must push, pull or lift the door before it locks
  • The top or bottom hooks do not engage
  • The door catches the frame or no longer closes evenly
  • The lock makes grinding or clicking sounds
  • The mechanism is jammed with the door open or closed

How a multipoint lock works

A central gearbox moves several locking points through a long metal strip fitted into the edge of the door. Depending on the system, those points may include hooks, rollers, compression cams, shoot bolts and a centre deadbolt. Lifting the handle usually engages the locking points; turning the key secures the system.

  1. Inspect: We check the door, frame, hinges and every locking point.
  2. Identify: We isolate the problem—alignment, cylinder, handle, gearbox, locking strip or another component.
  3. Explain: You receive practical repair or replacement options and an upfront quote before work begins.
  4. Repair and test: We complete the approved work, align the door where required and test the system from both sides.

Repair the failed part—not automatically the whole door

A locking problem does not always mean you need a new door or a complete new mechanism. Misalignment, worn hinges, a faulty cylinder or a damaged gearbox can often be corrected separately. When a part is obsolete or too damaged to repair safely, we explain the suitable replacement options.
