If your multipoint lock operates normally while the door is open but becomes stiff or refuses to lock when the door is closed, the lock itself may not be the main problem. This pattern often indicates that the door and its locking points are no longer lining up correctly with the frame.
Why this happens
A multipoint system moves hooks, rollers or bolts into matching keeps along the frame. Small changes in the door position can prevent those parts from entering cleanly. Common causes include worn or loose hinges, normal building movement, seasonal expansion, compressed weather seals, or keeps that have shifted.

- You need to pull or push the door while lifting the handle
- The key turns easily when the door is open but binds when closed
- The handle has become progressively harder to lift

A safe check you can make
With the door open, operate the handle and key gently while watching the locking points move. Then close the door and note where resistance begins. Do not repeatedly force the handle or key.
